Aschaffenburg, Bike Shop, and Playground

Today we went to Aschaffenburg. The main thing we saw there was a castle and its gardens. There was a great view of the Main River and the gardens were beautiful! First thing, of course, we ate! There was a restaurant right near the castle. Then we walked in the gardens and inside the main courtyard of the castle. We also walked around the town and got gelato- yummy!

On the way out of town, we stopped by Bike Max, a huge bike store in the town to see if we could find bike jerseys for my dad and me with something to do with Germany- a never ending quest. Turns out it was mostly a mountain bike and bike accessories store, and we didn't find the jersey. I did have fun exploring the small nook devoted to road bikes, and I found that none of them were as light as my bike back at home. Also, it was very entertaining to try and explain aero bars and how light and expensive road bikes can be to our friends!

Then we headed to a playground that had a zip line for James- he was looking forward to it a lot! There were also other fun contraptions to play on, such as the one in the video below of mom and Sascha on it (note James flying by on the zip line in the background). I didn't know what it was at first but I soon found out! Once you get used to it, it's a lot of fun! The picture to the right is of me being shocked at what it does!

Wow, today has been lots of fun! Tomorrow my dad (Mike) arrives here in Germany after the same very long haul we went through. Right now he is enjoying his 8 hour layover in Minneapolis after flying from K.C.- St. Louis- Minneapolis. Then he'll fly 5.5 hours to Reykjavik and another 3.5 to Frankfurt! We can't wait to see him!

  2. Yes he made it! He ended up getting four hours of sleep total on the two flights, and we just went for a long walk. Towards the end he started crashing a little but he's doing very well!
