Delicious Marshmallows, Frankfurt, and an American Dinner

Last night's dinner was very good, and James actually liked the schnitzel! We also had home made french fries and salad.

The first thing we did today was go to a Koehler Kuesse chocolate store in Hainstadt. In the store there were many artisan chocolates, in shapes of things like a computer mouse, tennis racket, playing card, CD, etc. There was even a giant soccer ball- bigger than a foot in diameter. While there we got these marshmallows that were coated in chocolate and then had some kind of topping, like almond, coconut, and assorted nuts. There was also mocha flavor and plain chocolate.

The next thing we did was go to an abbey in Seligenstadt for a quick stop. We went into the cathedral and walked around the garden. It was all very beautiful.

Then we headed to the train station so that we could go see Edith at her office, shop a little, and see more of Frankfurt. It was very, very hot on the train because it had no air conditioning. Outside it was sunny and hot, too. We got postcards to send to friends, and I got a t-shirt and pin for my collection. We also went into town hall and looked around in the building (very historic because it was not destroyed in WW2). One room was more like a meeting room/dining hall, and the other had pictures of the German Kings all around the outside (very detailed and ornate paintings).

For dinner we went to Chicago Meatpackers and met up with Edith's god-daughter, Carolin. I had a burger which was good and very American! Sascha also got a burger, and it was HUGE (see picture at left). We stayed there for a while and chatted and had a great time, then rode the train home.

  1. Hey Elise,

it's Carolin, Edith's goddaughter. I really like your blog and I'll follow it from now on.
Enjoy your stay in Germany and the following trips.

    Cheers, Carolin
