Ronneburg Castle, Ice Cream, and a Walk

Today we headed off to the Ronneburg Castle, which is close to Freigericht. The weather was still fairly hot. The castle was very well kept up and the rooms and artifacts felt very realistic. We climbed up to the top of a tower that had a great views. In the castle, we also saw the well- it was very, very deep and you could turn a light on to illuminate the depths and then fill a bucket to dump down the well. Below is a video of dumping the water down the well- notice how long it takes to hit the bottom.

At the end of our visit to the castle, we saw a magic show. It was in German, but we could understand almost all of it because it was mostly visual.

After we left the castle, we went to an ice cream parlor. It was delicious! My mom, Juergen, and Edith got iced coffee (middle), James and I each got two scoops (left), and Sascha got some kind of strawberry spaghetti ice cream concoction (right). YUM!

When we got home, we took Bonnie for a walk in the countryside behind their house. We passed by Sascha's school and stopped to let Bonnie play in a creek. There were cows, and wheat, and corn, not unlike Kansas! On the way back we walked around the campus of Sascha's school.
