First Full Day in Germany

Today was our first full day in Germany!

We all woke up late, I guess because we only got 3 hours of sleep last night... Breakfast was delicious- rolls/croissants with toppings like butter, jam, lemon curds, and nutella. Then James, Juergen, and Sascha went to the pool. For lunch we had another great meal- see pictures below, I'm not sure how to describe it! James didn't like the meal so he had another croissant with nutella.

After lunch we left for Frankfurt to meet up with Juergen's son, Tim. To get there we used the Autobahn, and reached about 130 mph! The better video was on my mom's camera, and the quality is too high to upload (takes forever), so this is a lower quality, not so good video of the Autobahn:

The first thing we did when we got to Frankfurt was to go on top of a tall building to view the city. It was really hot up top, about 105 degrees! The views were great, though!

Then we walked towards the river through a shopping area and we walked on a bridge over the River Main. Once across the bridge, we stopped for a drink and to rest in the shade. After our cooling off, we walked over another bridge to cross back over the river. We then walked around more and went into a few large stores, partly to cool off. In one of them, James finally got some souvenirs- toy dragons!

While walking around, we saw quite a few "BierBikes" (drink beer and pedal with your friends!!!), and many, many bicycles. It's so awesome how many people were using their bikes to get around!

We also went to a new mall in the area and the architecture was SO cool (see left)! After we left the mall, we pretty much went to the car. The world cup game was to start soon and we needed to get home to see it! On our way to the car, we saw a public viewing area set up with a huge screen. There were a lot of people there and there was loud music. A

And... Germany just won their world cup game! I have been sitting here watching the game and working on the post... and they just won! Well, this has been a great first day. Can't wait 'til tomorrow!
